Memoir of a Quarantine Camp (Covid — 19) — Part 2: “The First Impression”

The first impression surprised me,

A doctor in full protective gear transports me to a room on the second floor. Cuong is his name, and he’s friendly, easy going, and younger-looking than I thought. I’ve always seen him and his coworkers wearing protective gear all day (except when sleeping), which covers them from head to toe. I know it’s really hot, it’s like you have to wear raincoats and walk around on a normal day without rain.

When I first entered the room, there were only two people. Then I tried to find a good bed that was close to ceiling fans, power outlets, and windows. Coming to the third bed, I found the ideal bed. Starting in the early afternoon, we get more people into the room, and by the end of the day, we had a full room with ten people.

My room is about 100 square meters large. Every bed here looks like a hospital (inox bed and white bedsheet). They were provided with pillows, bedsheets, blanket,… and then added to a Zalo group to share all information during my time here.

In the first, night we list a few things for the doctor

Because this quarantine camp does not provide meals on a daily basis, we must order meals for ourselves using a food delivery app such as Grabfood or Beamine. We only have two hours to order and must do so between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. for breakfast, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for lunch, and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for dinner. Because there are two security guards on duty, they must respond to deliveries of more than 70 people.

This location has four floors and three rooms on each floor, making it extremely difficult for two security guards to deliver for everyone. (In Part 3, I’ll explain how we get ourselves order when the driver delivers it to the quarantine camp. It’s an interesting thing).
